"SUNKISSED" - A HORSE ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS PANEL

"SunKissed" - Horse
4"x6"
oil on textured canvas panel

I have been working very steadily in the studio these past few weeks.  I've been so engrossed in working that I haven't even stopped to post anything in awhile.  This is a familiar activity for me as I approach SUMMER ART MARKET that is JUNE 7-8 this year.  WHEW!

I'm happy that I've sold a good number of paintings recently, which makes me smile, but it also makes me double up on  my efforts so I have plenty of new artwork to offer for this fun event!

I think I will be holding off putting the newest ETSY type work in ETSY for now so I can have a good inventory...UNLESS someone just HAS TO HAVE a piece and then, of course, softy me will try to work something out!! FUN DOINS!

I've also found new ways to upcycle frames; putting them together to make other frames...this one I've earmarked for "SunKissed" is an example.  I've gently distressed
the off white "back" frame and have laughed this morning as the paint is SO GOOD that it is hard to sand off at all...but, trust me, some IS sanding off!  I'm still working on it...I never know if it will live in this frame, or something else...STAY TUNED!!
Just a reminder of a couple of things that I've been asked about of late...

1.  WHY Saundra; when your name is SAUNDRA GALLOWAY, do you sign your paintings LANE? GOOD QUESTION!  Well, the answer is...my name, before I was married was Saundra Lane.  SO, I signed my paintings with my last name...and, then I got married!  I was then SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY.  SO, instead of confusing those previous collectors, I just stuck with LANE as my signature.

2.  WHY Saundra do you put the obvious after your title? ie.  "SunKissed" - a horse.  WELL, good question, again!  The reason is because when people search the internet for certain things it is ALWAYS important to have the subject in the title so they can find it easier.  IT ISN'T because I think people won't know it is a horse, or an ostrich, or a cow...lol  But, I know you all knew that!

SO, BACK TO WORK!

A NEW VENUE FOR MY JEWELRY, A BIRTHDAY SURPRISE AND MY PAXTON and ETHAN

Soap Stone Heart Necklace
Gold Heart Long Necklace
Starfish Necklace
Yes, these three are heading to their new jewelry venue here in Conifer; Haley's Closet.  I am happy to have a place to let them live until someone comes and loves them home with them!!

Next month is my lovely daughter's birthday...she saw the starfish ETSY I painted one day and requested one of her own...I incorporated her wall color in the background so it would tie in better...so, this is Michelle's Starfish!  Oh, and I added a few waves to make it uniquely her own!! :)
and...as you know I adore my grandchildren!  My Minnesota grandson Ethan went to his first Hockey game the other night!!
he actually was shown on their big ole jumbotron! HA  YOU GO ETHAN...5 months and a star already!!

AND, IF you've followed me for long you will know that my 2 year old grandson PAXTON who is my OMAHA grandson LOVES to be tidy...he is so funny...lines things up in order...cleans...just a treasure for sure...My daughter sent me this video yesterday.  It's eating cake; which is a rarity for him as you can see in his confusion as to how to eat it at first!  THIS IS ALL PAXTON...he just can't stand for things to be messy!  LOVE THAT BOY!!

"THE LIFE OF PINE" ORIGINAL MIXED MEDIA PINE PAINTING ON PANEL © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

The circle of life is not only a symbol in this painting, but it describes the life of a tree perfectly!  Not only does it go through seasons of life, but it's very trunk, when cut in slices describes the rings that mirror the symbol on the painting!  So, the perfect name for this slice of tree could only be "The Life of Pine".

Painted on MDF panel with texture and paper added, this tree has texture of it's own along with bits of green that give it the color of life!  The color near the top symbolizes the sun; the very thing that helps this beauty to grow strong! The background and trunk are mostly acrylic, with the leaves and a bit of detail here and there are in oil.

"The Life of Pine" is stained green on it's sides to compliment.  Ready to hang or sit on a shelf!

Ready to ship March 31, 2014 when it is totally dry!  Shipping is aproximated for the US.

Last week I went to San Antonio, TX to see my brother and sister in law while my wonderful hubby attended a conference for work.  I absolutely adore my family, and we got to spend some FUN quality time together.  I stayed with them a couple of days in New Braunfels and then we all went up to San Antonio where I remained and played on the river walk and some other things.  My brother is a very elusive creature; it is HARD to get him to agree to sit for a photo...this one wasn't the best quality due to lighting thus the photo shop activity, but I adore him...my brother and I!!
The other important thing I got to do while in San Antonio was to see my father's resting place.  It is the first time I had visited, so it was a little special...a little out of body...but, I had to capture the beauty of our military resting spot for our brave men and women at Ft. Sam Houston...Dad's spot is front and center...just like in my heart!
In life I always hugged my father...he was SO tall,  but you'd often see photos of tall him and very short me...so, it seemed only natural for me to hug my dad again...Love you My Dad!!

I'm VERY busy these days painting as much as I can for SUMMER ART MARKET this June 7-8 at Art Student's League on 2nd and Grant...stay tuned for more info...but for now...MY BOOTH SPACE IS # 167!!

"WHITE ELEPHANT NECKLACE" © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

Hard to see, but the elephant has some brownish accents in the cracks and crevices.

Another in my JUST FOR FUN series, this glass white elephant is graced with other glass beads and metal chain. 16" in length with the apx. 3/4" elephant pendant hanging down. A little turquoise glass bead at the back makes it stylish and FUN from front to back!

The end of this month is my wonderful mother's 75th BD, and she made a request of me...well, actually a couple...One was another horse like the "Soul of the Horse" WHICH I did, and the other was a mostly turquoise necklace like my JUST FOR FUN series...and, I did that too...Hopefully she will like it...but, SHHHHH...it's a secret! :)
I added a special little bit of personalization...note the JOY bead that will hang down the back...that's her name! :)
I have been VERY busy painting of late as well...REALLY enjoying my mixed media pieces between the ETSY'S...Here is a beginning that will end up a section of pine tree...FUN!
I've got a couple fun things that will happen at one time or another; WHEN the inspiration hits...The barn is a co-worker of my husbands father's barn I believe that is how it goes...I love the contrast of the red with the snow!! I believe this is somewhere in Michigan...
and, I thought this little bird; that I've learned may be a JUNCO was outside my door last snow we had...I love his little self!
SO, busy bee days...JUST THE WAY I LIKE EM!!

HAPPY CREATING!
