"Poppy Chalkboard Door
80" x 18" $350
Acrylic on 3 panel solid wood door
WILL BE SHOWCASED AT SAM IN DENVER
This is my second painted door. I will be showcasing them at the SUMMER ART MARKET on June 7 & 8, 2014, so I hope you will be able to come by to see them in person!
This door was a definite work that morphed as time went along. I started out with one style of poppy, and a bit too small, so I wiped the whole thing out and started over. TWICE! I finally settled on this colorful, stylized version of poppies with fun turquoise spent poppy pods as a fun contrast color. I even found a fun turquoise knob to add to the mix! The background of orange shows through the off white color that is painted over, and some slight distressing can be seen around the edges here and there. A great, functional piece that would work in many decors!
A little crooked, but you get the idea on the top detail. Orange and red are REALLY HARD to photograph for me...it is hard to see some color variations that are somewhat subtle in some of the flowers...
The middle section has the chalkboard in it with poppies and poppy pods gracing its edges. The bottom of the chalkboard is apx 41" from the ground...
The bottom section has the three poppy pods gracefully spindling their way up to bring the whole thing to it's completion.
These doors are meant to lean against the floor. Their heavy weight allows them to be a sturdy surface to write on. HOWEVER, they could also be hung on the wall.
A FUN project, and a great bit of color and function for any home!
HAPPY CREATING!
