An Ocean in Oil

I have so enjoyed being with my wonderful parents and seeing things I haven't seen in a bit. I feel a bit like I am in a Saundra Lane Galloway Gallery when I come here. My paintings, old and new are everywhere! This little 8x10" OIL on canvas panel is sitting in an easel in the living room. I started my art career working in oils. As I taught myself I ran across a card and painted this from that. I remember there were many layers put into this trying to achieve the effect of the sunset over the water.

HOWEVER, for some reason I can't save the jpeg so I can post it...so still waiting until I get home to try to figure out this dilema. But, trust me, when I finally get this up you will love it. Today's photo is of a birdbath taken while working at the house of a participant in one of our gallery fundraisers one year. It was the garden and art tour. I loved the gardens of this particular house, but the real treat for me was to tour the home of these people. It was after a Frank Lloyd Wright design! Awesome to see. I didn't photograph the house as I felt it would be rude, but I have to say I think I saw a Picasso inside...No...couldn't be...right?? Anyhoo...enjoy...and if you feel inspired by this one...I'm sure you'll know what to do with it!

My Baby Shoes

Last year or maybe the year before my mother gave me my first pair of baby shoes. They were moccasins. I am of Cherokee decent, so I guess that makes sense. As you know if you have followed me for very long my family ties mean everything to me; I got that from my mother. So I know what a sacrifice it was for her to give them to me. We are all SO sentimental! So, as a gift I painted them for her and gave the painting to her the next Christmas. While here at my parents house I ran across the painting (sitting on a shelf in my room with my sons first shoes in front of it) and decided to share this bit of mushy'ness with you. This was painted on a 6x6 wrapped canvas that I painted around. I've always wanted to do them again, and I had the idea while here to photograph my children's first baby shoes and do a series! Yes, I figured I'd let my mother have my children's first shoes since I had the children...Besides I knew they were in excellent hands and if I ever needed them back I could have them.

The photo I wanted to share with you all for a bit of inspiration is a simple one of aspen leaves. I think it would work well in just about any media. It seems like a puzzle to me. So, as with the others you are welcome to take it and do with it what you wish.

Goose, Duck, Cow...

Ok, no duck...I think...I KNOW the one pic is of a cow near my house, but the other...is it a goose or a duck?? I think a goose...Anyhoo, or moo...whichever tickles your fancy, if either does, yours to do with what you will. Sorry if I am slow in returning your e-mails or anything...this dial up is crazy!

Coral

Coral is a beautiful abstract that the Watercolorist; Jean Lurssen (hope I spelled your name right Jean) did from the underwater pic I posted for you all to try if you wanted. I think it came out beautifully! However, I am having trouble posting some of the photographs from my mother's house, so I have included the link to Jean's blog so you can see what she did and read about it. Sorry Jean, I tried! Geraniums in a Window

Today it is cold and rainy at my mom's in Edmond Oklahoma. So, remembering the warmth it takes to grow geraniums was a good thing to do. If anyone wants to paint any or all of this you are welcome to!
