PET PORTRAITS, CANVAS BASKETS AND ORNAMENT FUN and MORE! © SAUNDRA LANE FINE ART

Raja
pet kid
commissioned

Raja is a kitty that has passed on to kitty heaven.  I did this commission for a dear friend who loved her dearly!  These are important portraits for me, they are a tribute...they make me smile, and cry and remember how important life is in all forms!  I loved her coloring all ready, but as is my style, I play with color (all except the eyes)...it's the fun part of being an artist!
Sasha
pet kid
commission
Sasha is the pet kid of a gentleman who owns a business up here in Conifer.  She was commissioned by Raja's mom as a gift, so I try to say very little...no giving away surprises!! :)  I love this dog...she poses for pics...she's a sweetie pie for sure!

This is an unusual but fun time of year for me...I spend a lot of time on commissions and gifts that make it look like I'm not doing anything, when in fact, it's one of the busiest times of year for me.  I just don't post a lot of them as folks who are recipients of the gifts might see!  It is after the holidays that I start back on the main body of my work...so hang on! :)

I've been really busy creating canvas baskets and affirmation ornaments for classes and such...below are just a few of what I've done.

and, a couple more commissions...
My son-in-law LOVES the Huskers...doing a helmet was my daughter's idea...so that is next for my easel...and one that is very important, that I will probably cry through, but I'm honored to do it...My co-grandma's father passed away recently.  She took this photo of her holding her dad's hand...my sweet daughter thought it might be a good gift for her this year, so this will be a blessing painting!
SO, as you can see, busy days here in my studio!  I love this time of year for the gifts and commissions I am honored to do, and know that soon I will be back at my easel with my mixed media paintings...some of which I've already started!  I hope this year finds you able to do blessings in whatever creative way is YOUR way!

KEEP THE INSPIRATION IN YOUR HEART!!

ADDED TO ETSY...CANVAS BASKETS © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

I've been making my fun canvas baskets again...this time the pen/pencil/reader/brush holders...and NOW they can be flower vases; just in time for those summer wildflower pickings!

This one would be a fun brush holder.  I add pea gravel to them for weight and also a great holder for those items you would stick in there!  Each canvas basket, no matter the size is made the same...painted, stamped, detailed in ink and then sealed a bit for protection.  I like the organic nature of these baskets...fun doins!

I've also added my "&" pen holder as well...I found a few small juice glasses that I am using for vases inside these little baskets...there are only a few, and I haven't been able to find any more, but I've experimented and the tall baby food jars also work...they come JUST TO THE TOP of these little baskets...

I love the creative bug that lives in my studio at times like these...INSPIRATION ABOUNDS!  I've even found it in my neighbor's yard...he has a big ole log laying on one of his yard tiers.  The pics I took will make great inspiration for future abstracts!

Keep those inspirational fires burning!

"CHRISTMAS CANVAS BASKETS" © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

Canvas Santa bags and Christmas bitties for Luna's Mandala!
It was fun to play with my canvas and make some Christmas gift baskets for my gallery in Conifer; Luna's Mandala.  They go fast, so if you want to snag one for your holiday gift giving, come on up!  She's open every day in December!

This year we decided to thin out our little pines that grow in great large bunches...so our Christmas Tree is one of those.  It was fun to just stroll down our driveway and pick out a tree.  Our sweet little tree is about 5' tall, so I decided to make a canvas basket for it and put it on our chest across from our front door.  Decorating comes next!  FUN DOINS!
I made a stamp for this one...and then added a bit of color here and there...

CANVAS BASKETS GALORE!

I've just fallen in love with making my canvas baskets!  I don't make much money on each one, so I've decided they are a labor of love!  And FUN!  Love Life is my newest creation with my own hand made tree of life stamp...You will notice on some that I have begun to add stones...this one has a garnet.
"Treasure" is another larger canvas basket...5" wide, 3" deep and about 3" tall.

I call these small ones my "bitty" baskets as they are just 3 1/2" wide, 2" deep and 2" tall...but hold all sorts of those small kitchy things we always have laying around...paper clips, make-up, just about any small thing...and they are great for gifts...put some small items in the bag that has the sentiment you want to convey!  They sell almost as fast as I can make them at my gallery in Conifer.."Luna's Mandala"

I also make pencil or glasses holders that have a bit of pea gravel in the bottom to keep them grounded...

I can even make them to order if you want...Most of what you see here is found only at Luna's Mandala, but I will make to order...keep in mind the design varies, and colors...but take these two for example...they were ordered...The way that happened is the purchaser asked for pink and birds with the word Pearl...and the other, cats...and the color was specified.  These cats are my own stamps I made...so, the possibilities are wide!  IF you are interested in this just contact me with some general guidelines and we will see what we can do! FUN.  Just contact me at art4life44@hotmail.com and we'll work it out!  The bitties are $8 with a stone, $7 without.  The larger like live life are $15 without and $16 with a stone they measure about 5" wide by 3" deep and about 2 3/4" high, and the pencil holders are $16.60 without and $17.50 with a stone and are about 4" high and 3 1/2" wide and about 2" deep...Keep in mind that each one is unique and has it's own personality!
Lots going on in the Galloway household lately which has slowed me down a little on artwork...JUST TEMPORARILY though!  The biggest news is my most wonderful son is moving to Colorado for a time and we couldn't be happier!  SO, lots to do to help him transition to the new life!  HOWEVER, I have several of my doors in line to be painted...be watching for aspen, more poppies...and whatever else my mind comes up with...stay tuned!!

I am also working on a mandala painting class for up here in the mountains...lots o folks are interested in exploring their lives and this is a fun visual to take home!  STAY TUNED for more on this...

I have to share a fun face time moment I had the other day with my beautiful daughter and sweetheart grandson Paxton!  He had just woken up from his nap and wanted to talk to Nana (that's ME).  The first thing he said when he saw me was "I want to come in there with you"!  WOW...a heart melter for sure!  Later we read the recorded books I send...together...and at one point he wanted me to "sit" by him, so he took the ipad and put it next to him and put his arm around me!  WOWIE ZOWIE...I was in heaven...
Life is precious and so awesome!

HAPPY CREATING!
