"Sunflower in Season"

What can I say, it was just TIME to do another sunflower.  The days have been warm of late, and that always makes me think of sunflowers, so, it had to be done!  This bloom is on an 18"x18" cradled MDF panel with stained sides to compliment.  I'm thinking acorns and cherries coming soon!

I KNOW I said I would be finishing the bamboo piece next, but the patent commission is taking WAY longer than I had anticipated.  As with all things the client found he needed other things and has added to his original intent.  This is OK, and is typical...however I was going a little crazy just working in black and white graphic drawings so woke this morning; grabbed an earlier piece that was only painted and added some more COLOR!  Whew...I feel better just dabbling for 10 minutes in color...I have been considering adding to my earlier work where it was appropriate to fit with my new vision, and this piece was SCREAMING for just that!  Bow Down can be seen on my website by clicking HERE, or you can scroll to the bottom to just click the "buy now" button if you are in a hurry! :)  

I am getting a bit weary of snow...even though we haven't had all that much this winter...but I got so excited to see this punch of color at the base of one of my beautiful pines in the backyard I had to snap a pic!

AND, we haven't gotten a TON of snow, but we have gotten enough for the snowblower to come out...I got another laugh out of my dear hubby after one of these activities the other day...SMILE HONEY...YOU'RE ON CANDID CAMERA!!

As I have a little time before my next demo I decided to work a piece taking pictures between each step to show the process of painting something a little more involved like flowers.  This is the end result for this little piece that will go on my website in the next day or so when I'm sure I've done all I want. The sunflowers are painted in oil, which is over the collage and acrylic.  In an earlier post I talked about the rules for being able to do this...in short, if the surface isn't too smooth it works well...

In coming days I will be posting things for sale on my blog.  I FINALLY learned how to put a button on the blog thanks to my blogger and artist friend Kimberly Conrad!  YEA!...In coming days you will see many of my earlier style pieces for sale here as I will be taking them off my website in order to give it a more professional and cohesive look.  HERE...is fun...HERE...is more relaxed; so be watching!
