A Slice of Life

Yes, it is another tree! I am about ready to do something entirely different, but I couldn't resist this little close up of this aspen that I've named "A Slice of Life". I love the changes these trees go through. I think it certainally has an interesting life...it changes about as often as women's lives do! This one is a 10x8 on a museum wrap canvas. I've finished another paper cast and am waiting for the frame. I've got a series of pics on that one so you can see the process. That should be here in a week or two.

I have been so inspired by some of what I've been following I think I'm going to try working more loosely (we'll see what comes of it) like I've wanted to for some time. So, off to try it and I will invite any comments you may have.

I understand, there's just something about trees. Nice work.

Thanks Brent, I visited your site as well...left a comment. I really like what you do with trees as well. Hope you visit again...

Lovely composition. Love the detailing on the leaves and the way you managed to feature them over the subtly painted trunk and background.
From fellow tree lover.

Thanks Jean, This one I fought with, but I am pleased with the outcome...I've just taken a pic of a "slice" of a pine tree...hmmm we shall see. This doesn't do much for my desire to work more loosely, but some things just sing to me the way they want to be shown...
