I've begun the process of laying in value and playing with detail just to see how it can go. For two days I've been fighting a canvas that wasn't stretched properly apparently as it kept buckling! And I think I got this at one of our primo art stores here called Meiningers! Very dissapointed. I FINALLY think I've got it solved thanks to double the number of canvas strip pegs...So, I got to play with laying in some beginning color. My goal is to get as much paint on the canvas as possible and then go back and play with some amount of detail. But, I couldn't resist seeing how the helmets would look with numbers and playing with a bit of red with light and dark...FUN.
So, I am constantly amazed at the sunrises we have here...even though the scene is the same, I am blown away by the color! The first pic was early on, and then the beautiful blues show through...Had to share!

Looks as though it's coming along fine! Re the canvas...ya never know what challenges will pop up in doing a painting.
Love those sky photos. For some reason they remind me more of a fiery sunset.
Thise sunsets are breathtaking, but I REALLY like how you're proceeding with the football players. Great start!
Thanks Dean...I think I have it solved...we shall see. I know they look like sunsets...amazing!! But, we are on the wrong side of the mountain to see those like this!
Sandy, I appreciate your comments...believe it or not those are sunrises! Isn't that amazing?? I've had opportunity to do more on those Nebraska guys...coming along well I think...
This is looking great, the helmet looks awesome! Your sunrise pictures are stunning
Thanks Krista...I wish everyone could see these sunrises in person!! I am having much better luck the the players than I did with the field a few weeks ago! Thank goodness!!
This is going to be a gorgeous painting when you are through Saundra. I had never thought of footballers being great artwork, but I was very wrong, indeed. I think that the two paintings together are going to be treasured pieces. That Damon is one lucky guy!
Hey! Lookin' good with the football players. It is a labor of love, but seems like you're having fun, too. That's the best kind of project!
Thanks for sharing the mountaintop beauty around you for the rest of us living in the valleys.
Thank you Autumn Leaves. Yes, on this one I AM having fun. I am almost finished laying it all in before I go back for the few details I will put in. I hope Damon is happy!
Elizabeth, Yep, a definite labor of love, but this one went much more smoothly than the last one I did for my sweet son in law! And, you are welcome on the pics. Remember anything that I post as a photo is up for grabs if anyone wants to tackle them! :)
Hi Sandra, I also love taking pics of sunrises and sunsets. I have a great view of the sunrises, but the houses around me block the sunsets. I have to walk my dog, and take my camera to catch those...When I visit my girlfriend, is when I get the great sunset shots. She has a perfect view. I should post some of mine. Thank you for stopping by my Purpose blog...I really think we should collaborate. My email is donnab6464@gmail.com.
Thanks Donna...I would enjoy collaborating!
