"Pine and Aspen" is a 5x7" collage on canvas. I made just a few additions to this piece that, even though they may seem small were important to the composition and focal area. I added one aspen on the right and a pine, but worked to keep them in the background so as to bring more focus on the pine and aspen on the left. The strong horizontal with just a slight upturn were important to draw the eye to the right, and the very light suggestion of pine boughs on the right helped to unify the piece. This painting is available on my website.
I want to thank Autum Leaves for sending me several bird pics AND a link to others! Because she sent me pics and a link I am putting her name in the next give-away three times total. Any others who wish to send me pics I will add your name more than once into our next drawing.
In a post coming soon (as soon as my hubby gets them from the storage) I will be adding a few things to a give-away I will talk about soon that will come in December...right around the corner!!
Until then my blogger friends...HAPPY PAINTING and welcome to my newest followers!!

Hello,
I love this watercolor, nice colors and beautiful light. My compliments
Best regards
Thank you masmoulin! It is acrylic, but I used it lightly so I can see why it might look like a w/c. Best Regards right back to you! thanks for stopping by!!
Oh my! This is gorgeous, Saundra!! But then I am not at all surprised! Truly a breathtaking painting and I am so glad you decided to use your start for these trees. I am greatly intrigued by the mist that seems to envelop the tops of the trees...Just stunning!!
Thanks Autumn Leaves...It was a fun one to do...:) You are SOOOO good for me!!
I've been scrolling up and down, up and down, and yes, those tweaks have definitely added to this beauty!
Thank you Liz...it just seemed it needed a bit. So glad you stopped by! Hope you are enjoying your summer...
Your tree paintings area always lovely. Your description of the additions was interesting. Also, thanks trees watercolor which was absolutely spot on. I need to redo it.
Jean
Thanks Jean! I do love em...guess it shows! I can't wait to see how your tree remake comes out...I'm doing that now with a flower one I did the other day...
Wow - what great layering!
I know, I know...being my sis someone will think I'm biased. OK I am - but I can still look past my prejudice and still say this painting keeps the eye moving and maintains interest - and isn't that what a great painting is supposed to do; hold intrigue and transfer the viewer into the realm of the canvas (or whatever the substrate)? I was looking at some paintings from the Song Dynasty this last week - there's some beautiful similarities in those ancient Chinese paintings as in yours - delicate leaves playing in the light.
As always, I'm impressed...and proud to tell folks my sis is a great artist!
Wish you could be at Mom and Dad's next week. You'll be missed.
