Yes...these two sold before I had time to go very far with them...THANKS ELLEN! I am getting quite a kick out of the fact that of all things, ostrich's, have taken off with such a BANG!  Perhaps they look so funny, and we NEED funny in our world right now...who knows...THIS ARTIST doesn't care, because to paint them makes me laugh, so for that I am grateful!! 

 

Busy as can be getting ready for my first LUNCH AND LEARN class...ABSTRACT BEGINNINGS...I've had such fun preparing...not only do I have a good way to help those "abstractly challenged" folks out there (of which I am one of em), it hones my artistic bones as well!!  SO FUN DOINS at the Galloway mountain escape classroom!!

CITY ESCAPE LUNCH AND LEARN CLASSROOM READY!

Yep, it's been a bit of rearranging and planning, but I've finally got the classroom space ready for our City Escape Lunch and Learn Classes beginning on May 7!  I still have one spot left for May 7 Abstract Beginnings, and as of this post 2 spots left for the May 14 Mixed Media Abstract Concepts. I've also added a third class for Saturday, May 18 on MAKING STAMPS.  So, choices have begun!  For basic info on what Lunch and Learn is and how it works follow this link to my previous blog post!

The room is cozy and full of light with two above ground windows and lots of lighting so we can see and create and have FUN!

There is even a big ole TV so we can see visuals or even catch up on the latest HGTV if that is what the students want!! lol  SO, lots of fun things planned throughout the summer...IF you want to be on the mailing list for these class offerings please e-mail me and let me know.  I send out e-mail blasts there first for the classes as they are added to the schedule!  art4life44@hotmail.com

I've also been really busy trying to keep up with offerings for my ETSY shop...I've sold every ostrich I've painted; mostly within hours of it's posting...and have requests for more! I've gotten a kick out of thinking I should open a shop just for all things ostrich...HOWEVER, today "Flamingo" sold...MORE FUN!

POPPY BEGINNINGS and NEW CLASSES!

I've begun a largish poppy painting with an abstract feel.  This detail shot shows the background process and a beginning of laying in strong color.  Poppies are such fun to paint...such strong orangy red color against the lighter background. CONTRAST is always a good way to go if you want it to grab attention.

I love layering with paint, paper and texture...then drawing in my poppies on top where I feel they would work into the composition the best.  This little section has a little of everything but the painted poppy...background layer, papers, added texture...FUN DOINS!

It's important to pay attention to detail as you can see I've begun to do in the top left corner...paint, texture...blending, but leaving some of what I've done in the background.  I can't say how it will come out in the end...but I'm liking the process so far!

You can see the whole piece in its beginning stages...papers, paint, sketching, texture...all layering...I've begun to paint the poppies so I can work the whole piece together with what I've done in the background so far...This is by far my favorite way to work.

I've worked with more attention to the abstract qualities of this painting.  Something I've been studying for awhile now.  WHICH BRINGS ME TO...new things that are going to be offered that I will speak more about in coming days.

I am working on series of lessons that I will be offering to small groups of people up HERE IN MY MOUNTAIN SETTING!  The working title will be "LUNCH AND LEARN".  I've revamped my lower level into a classroom and will be offering a morning of learning capped off with lunch up here in our little escape from the city location! FUN DOINS!  I believe I will be focusing on the concept of ABSTRACT in the beginning as that is what I've learned is a strong interest.  HOWEVER, there are many different subjects and projects I will be offering throughout the summer months and on until the snows start flowing again!!  IF you are interested in receiving more information on these classes please e-mail me at art4life44@hotmail.com!
