I've actually had this finished for about a week, but my computer is acting up and for some reason wouldn't let me post this photo.  This is NOT my typical subject matter, but this car; I'm not sure what kind it is...I called it a stock car, but not understanding the terminology I may be all wrong...HOWEVER, Mark; my daughter's father-in-law, and a friend LOVES this car...It has won awards and such...so I wanted to capture it for him.

 

My husband was amazed that I could do it; me not being a very linear person, and I told him I just thought of it like a puzzle.  Each part I thought of as shapes and lines...and that my friends is how one paints something way out of their comfort zone! 

 

SO, Christmas preparations continue at this house...and probably will until we leave for Omaha for the holidays!

Yes, it's that time of year for me when I occasionally do a painting for a family member...this year it is my wonderful son Jonathan!  This year he got a new little kitty he named Sushi...I FINALLY got a photo of him and Sushi...it's dark, its grainy, but I think I was able to catch her somewhat...so, Jonathan...NO PEEKING until Christmas...The rest of you can scroll down and see!

A little bit of the aspen magic in this 4x4" mini with black painted sides is ready to bring the outdoors in to that special spot in your home! This gem of aspen is painted in mixed media, with acrylic paint, and paper. The options are as is to frame in a 4x4" frame (remember the sides lip of the frame takes 1/4" on all sides), OR for .50 more you can have the option of ordering it with a 5x5" black backer board, or an off white backer board. These allow your painting to be framed in a 5x5" frame so all the sides will show! The frames shown are not included, but are a suggestion. Black frame can be found at Michaels, and the Off White distressed frame can be found on ETSY at Rustic and Refined Design. This painting is ready to ship today!

 

We just returned from my mother's house in Oklahoma City for a 5 day visit.  I have to say it was quite an experience!  We drove to our airport on the day of a below zero cold snap.  It took over 2 1/2 hours to get there...flew to OK City...landed in a major snow and ice event for them!  We passed cars that had spun out and even turned over...a scary beginning, but that wasn't the end of it...OH NO...during that time it was SO cold and ICY that we were unable to get out save one partial day.  Our power went out, and while I was on the phone reporting the outage there was a 4.5 earthquake! I'd never felt one before, so it was a bit disconcerting.  And, to top it off I was sick the whole visit! WOWIE!  I forgot my camera, so tried to limp along with the camera in my ipad...HOWEVER, since the IO7 update I haven't been able to transfer photos from it to my computer...don't ya just love those updates!! :)  SO, I'm leaving you today with just the visuals of the trip I "painted" for you in words!

"Pine Tree Upcycled Chair"

This wicker seat bar height chair is painted a spicy paprika color with two tall stylized pine trees tracing each side with boughs and pinecones in the center slats. If you look closely you will notice the distressed look along with the squares breaking up the solid color.  A GREAT conversation piece for sure!   

 

 

OK...furniture is coming along...NOW, where to put these pieces!!  Well, I am happy to report that beginning December 2, 2013 I will be renting a small space within a great community of artists in a wonderful place up here on the 285 strip just above Morrison called "a Borgata" .  Owned and operated by Penny Gaudi, a Borgata  is doing SO WELL in fact that she will be moving to a larger space; 4,000 square feet up here in Conifer beginning in March! I didn't want to wait for that, so I will be signing a lease and moving my upcycled furniture and paintings and such the beginning of December!  SO, a place for these pieces to roost and I am a happy artist!
