Finished version
I finished "Lone Pine" this morning. This 14"x32" acrylic on canvas was truly a joy to discover. I think the photo despite my best efforts came out a bit different blue for the sky. The sky is more cerulean blue than the ultramarine it looks like on my monitor. I have included the unfinished version alongside the finished version. I didn't do too much more to it...gave it a bit more depth in the forest floor, and worked on the ground of the sky as I talked about the other day...I saw a black hole in the detail and corrected that after I took these pictures, but it looks very close. All in all I am quite pleased with the end result, but have a few ideas as to how to approach the future "babies" that will come.

Thanks Jean...haven't heard from you in awhile...hope you are well...now, to do one "on purpose"...:)
Nice tree Saundra. I like the brushyness and soft edges. It looks like it was fun to do. With photos of paintings, I have just accepted that a jpeg is not going to be a satisfactory. You just do the best you can.
Gosh this final version is terrific. Lightening the sky has made such a difference!
Fred, Thanks, it WAS fun to do! I agree with you...a photo just doesn't really do it, but we try!
Liz, I think lightening the sky was a good idea...
