"HAPPY" A GIRAFFE © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Happy" a giraffe
4x4" oil on textured panel
$30 unframed; $36.50 framed

Working my way back to filling my ETSY shop, this little one was next.  I've added a framed option...as always there is the two backer board options...so, more choice for these little fun paintings!
This particular frame is what is included if you want a frame choice.
If you like him better in the black, THIS PARTICULAR FRAME is not available, but contact me, as I have frames with a 3/4" width that could be an option as well!  ART4LIFE44@HOTMAIL.COM
I'm PROUD to announce that Jerry and I have FINALLY gotten a together selfie to work!!  We were at a music festival last night up here on the mountain.  FUN DOINS!

I'm still working on my aspen tree in the frame project...so stay tuned!

"BABY G" - A GIRAFFE ORIGINAL OIL ON TEXTURED CANVAS PANEL OF A GIRAFFE © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

$50

Just look at this sweet little smile...she's just hanging out waiting to find a home for those who love all things Giraffe and Baby! Painted in oil over a textured canvas panel she is ready for framing as is. Another option is to purchase her framed. Here she is sitting in a pine frame with molding added to the sides, so for $18 more you can not only order her framed, but you can choose a color for the frame. Just e-mail me and we can discuss painting options! The frame by itself shows the molding added. So, as is, or framed, she can go home with you on
February 10, 2014 when she is dry!

The GOOD NEWS is I am happy that mom and dad were sooo very happy to have "Ethan's Bears" come and live in his nursery...so, off they go!!

"SWEETNESS" A GIRAFFE BABY © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Sweetness" a Giraffe Baby
4x4" oil on textured panel
$27

Sweet as can be, this little baby is ready to come home to sit on a shelf or hang for you! Just look at the sweet smile and gentle nature of this baby giraffe! "Sweetness" is 4x4" oil on textured panel with black painted sides. She can sit on an easel as is, or can be framed. (Remember a 4x4" frame takes off each side). For just .50 more you can choose either a black backer board mounting or an off white in a 5x5" size. This allows you to frame her with all sides showing in a 5x5" frame. Frames not included, but you can find the black one at Michaels and the off white right here on ETSY at Rustic and Refined Design! "Sweetness" will be ready to ship on January 13, 2014 when she is fully dry!

WOW, has this new year been a challenge with computers for this household!  We were down, and through much consternation we found out there were several problems...one being an animal chewed through the cable...and NOW, after downloading a new browser; Firefox I had trouble signing in...after about an hour I FINALLY found a place where I had to eliminate all the cookies that had been attached...I went to add the Fern Chest to my website and it wouldn't let me until I downloaded Java AGAIN...WHICH I think messed up my cookies...MAN OH MAN...it's enough to make a girl want to throw in the towel!  Technology can be a good thing, but in the past two months here; NOT being an expert, it has cost me seemingly countless hours troubleshooting; WHICH takes away from creative time!!  SIGH...I do not see a solution at this time, but to jump through every hoop Google, Explorer and now Firefox puts in my way...Here's hoping I can NOW paint more than I troubleshoot!!

HAPPY CREATING!! :)

Following my theme for myself for the summer I've begun another project for our home...this time BEDROOM CURTAINS and additions to my current bedspread...Right now it's merely a jumble of color...DIFFERENT color for me...and so much FUN!!  This will necessitate changes to dresser color and bed skirt; which I don't think will be a skirt at all, but something a little different...don't worry, I'll show you the end result!!
Wish me luck with all of this more than 15 yards of fabric!!  WHEW!

SUMMER FUN WITH DECOR, NEW IDEAS, AND COMMISSSIONS!

This summer has been a huge variety of play and paint and new ideas...I've had the idea for a long time to make "doilies" out of canvas...I'm always needing a little sumpin to put under sumpin else on my tables and have been trying to contemporize the doily.  This Star Mat is canvas, stitching and brads...but the possibilities are practically endless!!

It started with a theme...sketching on canvas...then cutting out where I wanted...
a little acrylic paint watered down a bit
adding a little stitching and brads for this one
and there you have it...
I'm now working on a round one with leaves, and I hope more mixed media...STAY TUNED!

I can't believe time is going by so quickly...our daughter-in-law is expecting our second grandchild!!  November is coming quickly and I'm already thinking of what painting for this little one's nursery!! They asked...I didn't insist...:)  They have decided on birch trees in yellow, white and grey...and we are playing around with adding a fun little giraffe or ostrich peeking out from the trees...We are waiting to know who we are having until the final details are in place, but what better subject matter for this grandma artist than TREES to start with!!  Magenta for a girl and Lime Green for a boy to accent their yellow, white and grey! FUN DOINS!  My beautiful daughter-in-law Katie Galloway...with little him or her Galloway happily coming along quite nicely!!

My sister-in-law Lori saw my ETSY "G" and commissioned me to paint her a larger version 16"x16"...We are calling this guy "Big G"...ha...

AND...I'm still having fun with décor for our own home...Just finished painting this round antique table that had seen much better days...The paint just made this piece...and I've got three more to paint..(one in turquoise!! WOW).so FUN DOINS at my house as well!!

I'm starting to enjoy the new look of my home...

And, FINALLY, I couldn't let this post go by without sneaking in a peek of my now almost 2 YEAR OLD grandson Paxton...Getting ready for nite nite with his Grandma and Grandpa Grimes while mommy and daddy were away on a much needed two day anniversary trip...doesn't this little face just scream "I miss my parents"? HA...no guilt intended I'm  sure!!
I hope this finds you happily having some summer fun of your own!!

OK...I'm having FUN painting my little ETSY paintings...and they sell so FAST...YAY on both counts...so, that's my newest ETSY offering.  "Candice" the giraffe from my last post, sold this morning...thanks Corrine!

Today I hurridly finished a 2'x2' experimental painting just in the nic of time to enter it into a local show we have in town...I wasn't really happy with it...but, because I'd sent in the entry fee I went ahead and let it go to be entered.  Actually my hubby kindly offered to deliver it as I had a meeting for the SUMMER ART MARKET.  I stayed in town because I just didn't feel it was show worthy, and as I predicted I had to pick it up and bring it home.  WHY am I telling you this? Well...it's a lesson to me...a life lesson, that, for some reason I need to keep learning.  I'll explain...

I have been extra busy lately...setting up classes for my Lunch and Learn (a HUGE undertaking for each class; not only did I work to get the room ready, but I put together half day workshops for every offering I've put out there so far, gotten supplies, etc, etc...WHEW) , painting for ETSY, trying to keep paintings going for SAM next month, and the usual navagating through regular life; which for me is a lot from time to time...SOUND FAMILIAR any others out there?  My situation isn't unique...we all have lots on our plates...BUT, I did have a lesson AGAIN, NOT to paint for a show!!  Well, I didn't actually PAINT FOR THIS PARTICULAR SHOW, but I did push myself to paint to get one finished to ENTER into this show. When ever we push ourselves beyond that normal push to get better, we tend to rush, to make quick decisions that may not be right for our work...JUST to make a deadline...NO, NO, NO!!  Don't do it!!  There will always be another show...there will always be another chance to put yourself out there...Take care of your talent...take care of your instincts, take care of what you know is right for your work...the rest will come!!  WHEW...I THINK I've learned this time...well, I hope so!!  And, PS on this topic...not every show is for you!!  That is my mini lesson.  This particular show is usually for those uber realistic artists MOSTLY...my work is TOTALLY different from anything that ever gets entered...It just isn't the show for me...LEARNED this time!!

What did I do when I got home?  I took gesso and wiped out the entire painting.  I didn't try to "fix" it anymore...it wasn't working...and folks...SOME PAINTINGS JUST AREN'T GOING TO WORK...so let them go...learn, and move on QUICKLY!  Don't fret over a painting that has turned into a lesson...keep those inspirational fires burning...And you know what...I'm already excited about my new idea for the NEW painting...WHEW!  Onward and UPWARD!!

PSS...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

HAPPY CREATING!
