Ha...for the rest of you...this is a 4"x4" Santa that I painted for my mother for Christmas at her request...BUT, some things need to be a surprise!!

I am a little behind on my ETSY offerings. If you haven't visited in awhile you might see a good number have sold! YAY, but that means I need to get busy! So, still thinking about our winter...I painted this puffed up little cardinal.  As always this little one is painted black on the sides, and can be mounted on a 5"x5" black backer board (included if you ask) for framing with all sides showing right to the edge!! Below you will see the framing suggestion... This little guy has so much paint I'm saying it will take 10 days or so to dry...that would be January 15 for approximate mailing date.  FUN DOINS!  

I'm working on a commission painting as well...so, having fun in the ole studio!!

I am missing my whole family these days! I recently got a couple of new photos of one part of my family...my little grandson Paxton...just had to share!!

I may have posted this little guy before...I just love him...and he is a HE by the way...I read that pinecones that are soft and have not opened up are males...interesting factoid I think!

 

I find this painting intriguing in it's photograph because I have photographed him about 20 times and every time in every kind of light the background looks blue like this which is NOT the case in real life! I can't figure it out!  It is really a pinkish/peachish color like in the side view...GO FIGURE! Anyhoo...I've just gotten around to adding him to my ETSY shop...you can see the sides have been painted black like the others in the shop, only his 1/2" depth allows for hanging, or sitting on a shelf or a little easel...OR, I can include him mounted on a black, lightfast backer board; 5"x5" so he can be framed in a 5"x5" frame as well...Note "Big Red" below and the framing possibilities with these little wonders!

Speaking of "Big Red"...this one has also been posted at one time or another...under it's former name "Cherry"...which didn't really do it...this "little" cherry has a big presence on it's 4"x4" format!...I just had to re-name it and also put it in my ETSY shop...you can click the title to see it in my shop.

 

"Big Red" also has sides painted black, and it is also 1/2" deep which allows for sitting alone if that is what you choose...or, as stated above it can be mounted on a black 5"x5" backer board for framing in a 5"x5" frame shown as an example for framing below.

I was looking through my recent work and found a particular favorite re-work of mine.  You can see the trees here...formerly knowns as "Tree Line" I believe...but, to me it needed a bit of punch, so I added this darling little red bird and now it is lovingly called "Sitting Pretty".  It is painted in my mixed media style on stretched canvas...so, this is just a reminder that it is still here and avialable!

This is a re-work painting!  I took a previous piece that I liked, but lacked that punch I was looking for.  Originally this was "Green Barn Aspen"...and I had hoped that the shadows against the barn wall would be that punch, but I just found, after looking at it awhile that the shadows merely served to be a black hole that just didn't suit me. 

 

SOOOO I took out the shadow and added a bit of punch in the form of these wonderful little Cardinals who have gathered among my beloved aspen to chat awhile!  I left the sides stained as they were because it still works!  I rather enjoy this little re-work so much I may make it my Christmas card this year...Cardinals are seen as you know as a Christmas bird...so, why not!! 

I enjoy making decorations and things for the holidays...just finished adding some fun touches to a lantern I found...added with this sweet little painting, and FUN DOINS!!
