"A BEAR IN PARADISE" MIXED MEDIA ON CRADLED PANEL © SAUNDRA LANE FINE ART

"A Bear in Paradise"
18"x18"
SOLD
Mixed Media on Cradled Panel
This bear painting was done as a request from someone who saw "Bear Visit" I did a year ago; that sold, and she loved it so much she wanted one similar...Which is good, as similar is all I would be able to do on something like this...You can see the first one below IS similar, but different...ha...I enjoyed working on it to try to give her what she wanted.
I think each one has some fun qualities, so I didn't mind doing it...

detail...I think she will enjoy the different paper...I know her well enough to know this...
This gives an idea of size when put in some type of decor...

This one is cradled...I used a combination of grey and leather stain to compliment the painting.

STAY INSPIRED IN ANY WAY YOU CAN!!

"BEAR VISIT" ORIGINAL MIXED MEDIA ON STRETCHED CANVAS © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Bear Visit"
18"x18" mixed media on stretched canvas
$500

Living in the mountains affords me a wonderful opportunity to capture some of the wildlife that comes to visit from time to time.  This young bear is one of our visitors.  "Bear Visit" is painted in mixed media on a stretched canvas.  The background is largely acrylic with the trees painted in acrylic over paper.  The paper is very thin, but it seems to give a bit more depth.  There is acid free paper added to the background as well. The bear and some detail is painted in oil.  Bear Visit will be ready to ship on September 10, 2014 when the oil parts are dry.  "Bear Visit" comes ready to frame in your favorite 18x18" frame.
detail

As I said, this was painted to go in my own house...but, as with most paintings in my life, this one is for sale too...so I will enjoy it while I have it.
Here is the frame that it will live in while it is with me...I'm lovin the turquoise this year!!  HOWEVER, when the painting sells, this frame stays with me...I have an idea for an abstract that may live in it later...BUT, for now..."Bear Visit" lives here!
I'm enjoying the last of our sunflowers for this year...the deer have chopped off leaves on some of them down low...but that is life on the mountain!

"SITTING PRETTY" A BEAR KID © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Sitting Pretty" a bear kid
7"x5" oil on textured panel
$60 unframed; $78 framed

I can just see this kid of a bear just sitting for the camera...all sweet and of course no trouble at all! HA!  Yep, I'm dreamin...but, he looks like it doesn't he?  I've made one of my frames for him if someone would so choose...all ready to be dry and move along to his new home!
I've also been playing in the studio with my new canvas baskets.  There are some ITTY BITTY bags that are just about 3" ish, ($7)
and my new PENCIL HOLDERS; OR EYEGLASS HOLDERS...($15) whatever you may choose.  I've put some pea gravel in the bottom of these pencil holders so they will stay put and hold whatever you may wish without falling over.  I'm thinking they would be sweet brush holders!
Right now they are all at my gallery in Conifer; Luna's Mandala...but I will soon be offering these for sale on line...stay tuned!

Occasionally I find a random something that is just begging to be re-done...this is the case with my small 3 drawer chest...Just 12" high it is a cute one...ALSO available in my ETSY shop...

I've gotten a commission idea from my gallery owner that has intrigued me...She originally wanted me to paint on the back of glass she pulled out of her kitchen window from their reno...She gave me some other windows and I had a bolt of inspiration in the night, so I got up and feverishly worked on it...I'm in the beginning stages, but here is my idea...I broke out the glass and cut branches to fit in the window panes...I ordered from a stained glass artist a few aspen leaves that I will place stratically...will paint the branches to reflect aspen...SO, wish me luck!  When I pitched the idea to her she sounded excited to see my prototype...I'll update you as I get further into the project!  FUN DOINS IN THE STUDIO!!

SO, grass has NOT grown under my feet since SUMMER ART MARKET...and, I'm just WAITING FOR DRY DAYS so I can work on more doors!

HAPPY CREATING!

"BEARY CLOSE" ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS PANEL © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Beary Close"
7"x5" oil on textured panel
SOLD

Every once in awhile I will do a requested piece.  This is different from a commission really because there is no money exchanged unless the requestOR likes it...that is what happened with "Beary Close".  A friend who loved the moose I did a month or so ago wanted a bear that was similar in feel...THUS this beary close up version of a bear!  Even though he is already sold, I did put him in my FINE ART AMERICA shop!  I created a frame as per her request...so, he's all dressed up and ready to go home!

I've been working on another requested painting the past couple of days.  It is a family barn on a specific piece of land.  I don't usually enjoy anything with lots of linear perspective, but this was a special request.  I have to admit that I don't usually do snow scenes either..especially when we've lived a cold winter...but, this, again, was a request.  I'm waiting to see if they want what I think is an old sign in the piece...so we shall see.  I also had a devil of a time photographing it!  Red just is nearly impossible to photograph!  It is really close in color to the original photo, but you wouldn't know it from looking at MY photo! sigh!  And on we go!

semi completed painting

I've also played around with a frame I made for "SunKissed"...the white was nice, but the distressed grey seemed just right!
AND, it's been awhile since I bragged on my family...I just got a kick out of this sweet photo of my grandson Paxton at the butterfly pavillion...he is SO gentle and curious...what a lovely thing to see...the wonder of a child!

and on we go!

TWO PAINTINGS IN ONE! "ETHAN'S BEARS" AND "EARLY MORNING ASPEN" © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Early Morning Aspen"
PRINT
Yes, you will notice that this painting is shown as a print.  IT DID exist as is at one time, but it was a beginning for a possible nursery painting for my grandson Ethan.  When I was painting it, I sort of loved it in it's aspen"y" state, so I took a photograph as it was before I added baby bears to it.  I thought it would be a nice print, thus putting it in my FINE ART AMERICA shop.  Kinda different, but kinda cool to have two paintings in one!!  FUN!

SO, I painted this 12"x25" cradled piece for my grandson's nursery...IF mom and dad see it and decide it is what they want...They had originally mentioned some of the animals like I did for my grandson Paxton, but I wanted to play with this idea first.  It is totally ok with me if they still want baby animal prints like I did for Paxton, but I thought of their nursery colors and just had to try...I'm waiting to hear back on which theme they want to go with. Here is the final product with the baby bears...it's a toss up to me...a fun bit of bear"y" hijinks I'll give it that!

For now I'm calling it Ethan's Bears...but if it doesn't go to live with them, I'm sure I can come up with a new title...Below are some detail shots...the sun went away, so you will notice some definite color change, and some reflections from my camera...but you get the idea!

FUN DOINS IN THE STUDIO FOR SURE!

"BABY BEAR" ORIGINAL 4"X4" OIL ON PANEL © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Baby Bear"
4x4" oil on panel
$25
"Baby Bear" is the little scamp that has been making himself known at our house this spring. He's a cutie, but he also is a "problem child"...so curious...he tears down our bird feeders, and has even gotten into my car...just like a baby! Painted in oil on panel with black sides this little guy is ready to frame as is or sit on a little easel. I can also mount him on a black backer 5"x5" board so he can be framed in a larger frame so all his sides show! Free if you just request it! "Baby Bear" will be ready to ship on June 10, 2013 when he has had time to dry! The frame is not included, but just a suggesion. You can find frames like this at Michaels.
I've been working hard to make life simpler. Don't we all do that from time to time? Yep...we do!  It usually comes at a time of extreme busy"ness", which is where I am right now...SO, I've been paying close attention to my analytics.  I'm not seeing much traffic come directly from my ETSY shop.  I sell quite a few "Etsy" paintings, but the traffic comes from a favorite site of mine...my DAILY PAINTWORKS site.  SO, I'm thinking I'm going to pull out of ETSY and just put my ETSY type paintings on my website and Daily Paintworks and see how that goes.

I think ETSY is a great tool if you spend the time to market heavily and follow all their suggestions, but, for me, time is of the essence, and why feed so many sites when you find what works!  If you are looking to find a site that is well run (by David and Carol Marine) check them out!  They are awesome!!  So, on we go!!

SUMMER ART MARKET is coming quickly!  I still have a few paintings I want to get done and so little time...whew...exciting, but exhausting!
I hope to see as many of you as can come next weekend!! BOOTH #38

And...I can't go very long before I have to share another pic of my adorable grandson Paxton...He's chillin out in California with his parents and grandparents and an uncle...My daughter named this one "Cool Dude"...and that he is!!

HAPPY CREATING!!
