"POPPIES ON BROWN" © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Poppies on Brown"
10"x8" oil on 1" gallery wrap canvas
Painted on request for a collector

This little 10"x8" oil was requested by a collector friend far too long ago.  So much came up in the last year to take me away from it, but I finally took a few moments to paint something for her to look at.  This was a challenge for me as I don't usually do a brown background like this.  I tried to stay dark, but you can see I just had to add some interest in the background! HA.  We shall see if she is happy with it.

This is NOT my idea or my photo, but I saw it on facebook and thought it a great idea for fall...just a little acrylic paint and even a little glitter I see in there and what a fun thing to put on display for fall!  Just passing along the idea.  This came from Country Living Magazine I believe.

"THE KLATCH" AN OSTRICH GATHERING © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"The Klatch" an ostrich gathering
7"x 2/ 3/4"
Acrylic on rice paper
ON HOLD FOR MINIATURE SHOW
framed size is 91/2" x 5"

The Klatch,  framed
I LOVE to haunt thrift stores and estate sales to find fun things; among them frames that I can use for a painting.  This is a found frame that I took apart and used to frame "The Klatch" an Ostrich Gathering.  This trio is painted on rice paper with a bit of paper streamed throughout.  It is hard to see, but there is a bit of gold detail added to these gals to tie it all together.  This is a small piece, framed under glass...Just a little fun in gold for an upcoming miniature show at the AAR RIVER GALLERY in Westminster...IF they get in that is! Wish me luck!

I am really missing my little Nebraska family...so much growing up!  My sweetheart grandson Paxton; now 4 is actually starting pre-school already!  My how time flies!

Before Lottie A and B head off to their new owner I had a funny experience.  I can't imagine it NOT happening when I paint two exact poses!  One in the couple liked A better, and the other liked B better...that is EXPECTED, and no biggie because one is being given as a gift...HOWEVER the comment about Lottie B drove my OCD ness crazy! HA.  She mentioned that the smile didn't seem quite as happe in B...NOW, she was quite happy with them, but I had to put them side by side and work on LOTTIE B's smile...I think I made it a bit happier!   See for yourself...
SO, now we have the two pups waiting to ship to their new owner...

"LOTTIE B" © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

Lottie B
6"x6"
oil on slightly textured panel
SOLD to collector
Not much different in color on this second pet portrait of Lottie but the background...For some reason the green didn't come off like it really is...it is more appleish green...and the bits of blue aren't as obvious...I've been having such a time with photos of late...but you get the idea!

Busy time here at the Galloway house!  What else is new! LOL...it's cleaning out old files day for me...So far I've filled two large bags of shredded docs...I hope I don't let it go this long next time!  But, I need to make room for walking and painting, so on I go!

"LOTTIE A" © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

Lottie A
6"x6" oil on slightly textured panel
SOLD as comission
This is one of TWO Lotties that my collector has ordered.  I'm calling this Lottie A because the other one she ordered is of the same pose...FUN!

Remember, even though the 101 Pet Portraits in 101 Days project is over, I STILL enjoy painting your pets...there is a link at the top of my blog...if you want one, I'm still a doing them!

I have NOT forgotten I wanted to make a book out of my 101 Pets...HOWEVER, my computer will NOT accept the book program, so it's on hold until I can find a way!

"BELLE, an OSTRICH" OIL ON PANEL © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Belle" the Ostrich is painted over a slightly textured 6"x6" panel and framed in this one of a kind whitewashed distressed 12"x12" frame.  That plucky face is just waiting to find a home with someone with a "birdy" sense of humor!

and, speaking of birds...we have a whole family of hummingbirds that just love what is left of our summer deck flowers...I've been trying to catch this fellow the entire summer!
Well, my little Nebraska family is doing SO well...our sweet Gracyn is now just 6 months old, and her brother, my adorable Paxton has made it to 4 with few bumps and scrapes!  Just had to share!
I've had my hand in one of my existing paintings...yep, just had to re-work an area in the middle that was bugging me...here she is before...
nothing wrong with this painting...but the center seemed wrong to me today...so, I punched up the color a bit and added a couple or three more trees...
I'm working on another Texas landscape as well as a couple of comission pups for a collector...
