I LOVE to haunt thrift stores and estate sales to find fun things; among them frames that I can use for a painting.  This is a found frame that I took apart and used to frame "The Klatch" an Ostrich Gathering.  This trio is painted on rice paper with a bit of paper streamed throughout.  It is hard to see, but there is a bit of gold detail added to these gals to tie it all together.  This is a small piece, framed under glass...Just a little fun in gold for an upcoming miniature show at the AAR RIVER GALLERY in Westminster...IF they get in that is! Wish me luck!

I am really missing my little Nebraska family...so much growing up!  My sweetheart grandson Paxton; now 4 is actually starting pre-school already!  My how time flies!

Before Lottie A and B head off to their new owner I had a funny experience.  I can't imagine it NOT happening when I paint two exact poses!  One in the couple liked A better, and the other liked B better...that is EXPECTED, and no biggie because one is being given as a gift...HOWEVER the comment about Lottie B drove my OCD ness crazy! HA.  She mentioned that the smile didn't seem quite as happe in B...NOW, she was quite happy with them, but I had to put them side by side and work on LOTTIE B's smile...I think I made it a bit happier!   See for yourself...

 

SO, now we have the two pups waiting to ship to their new owner...

I don't know why it is that an ostrich face makes one laugh, and our girl, Ottitude doesn't disappoint!

SUCH an attitude, but still adorable and funny! "Ottitude" is painted in oil on a 4"x4" slightly textured panel. You can purchase her as is and set her on a small easel, or frame her in your own 4"x4" frame (keep in mind 1/2" is taken on each side for framing), OR for just .50 more I can mount her on a 5"x5" off white or black matt baker board so she can be framed as in the suggestions (frames not included), in a 5"x5" frame with all her sides showing.  A friend of mine had these rock tiles and asked me one day if I could figure out what to do with them I could have them...HA...what an awesome challenge for an artist!!  SO, I added these charms to them...and sometimes wire and VOILA...paper weights...probably magnets too...I'll be putting them in my gallery in Conifer; Luna's Mandala!  FUN DOINS!

I've been working really hard of late, trying to get work finished for my gallery in Conifer; Luna's Mandala, as well as ETSY (I think this poor shop has suffered most), and the art show I'm in at the Stanton Gallery in Littleton, Co starting Jan. 6.  It's been a juggling act for sure I admit!  "I See You" is an ostrich I painted exclusively for my gallery in Conifer...but I've also painted one for ETSY...see it tomorrow!  I DO LOVE painting these quirky birds...they all make me laugh!

I've also been trying to decorate for Christmas around here...I got our little Charlie Brown tree, as my husband calls it...all decked out...and of course I always put my ornaments of my kiddos on the tree!

So, pause for a bit of Christmas cheer!!

"Grass Fed" is a typical ostrich that always has something yummy in her mount! In fact, most of the ostrich's I've seen usually have some sort of grass or weed in their mouths, so why not paint her in all her natural glory! "Grass Fed" is painted in oil on a textured panel. She can go home to you as is and sit on an easel, or be framed in a 4"x4" frame of your choosing (remember 1/2" is taken on all sides for framing), OR, for .50 more I can mount her on a 5x5" black or off white matt so she can be framed in a 5x5" frame of your choice with all her glorious sides showing, OR you can choose the matted and framed options either in a black or off white frame as shown! "Grass Fed" will be ready to ship on or about July 14, 2014 when she is dry! "Lashes" is a woman who knows how to highlight her best feature. She knows she isn't the most beautiful girl in the realm, but those lashes...well, they are front and center! Yes, another ostrich!  I just can't seem to get bored with them...So, "Lips" is the newest addition.  When you click to my ETSY shop you will notice that I have added a couple new things.  FIRST a second matt color choice.  It's been over a year since I re-opened my ETSY shop, I'm selling them about as fast as I can paint them...so, I've added two options...for .50 each you can choose either a black backer board or an off white...and I'm showing two options for framing so you can really see the potential! Yes, the sides are still black...

 

as written in my ETSY shop:  Thinking she will be much prettier Lips as added a bit of color to those lips of hers...just hoping you will want to take her home! The Frames are just a suggestion. The black you can find at Michaels, and the off white; they call white can be found here on ETSY at Rustic and Refined Design. The backer boards are 5"x5" allowing all the sides of Lips to show. Lips has black painted sides so you can set her on an easel, frame her in a 4x4" (remember 1/4" is taken up on all sides), or order the backer and put her in a 5x5" frame as suggested! "Lips" will be dry and ready to ship on or about November 23, 2013!

This guy is hilarious...he reminds me of Oscar the Grouch, thus the name! I find painting the ostrich quite fun...I laugh as I go! He's perfect for that someone who has a sense of humor! Painted on a 4"x4" panel with black sides he is perfect for sitting on an easel or framing...BE CAREFUL however as a frame is going to take up 1/4", so you don't want to get to close to his head...I have a solution if you wish! I offer; at no extra charge; mounting him on a 5"x5" black backer board so you could frame him in a 5"x5" frame with all his sides showing. The example for framing is shown; not included in the price however. I get these wonderful little black frames at Michael's. Oscar will be ready to ship about March 8 when he is good and dry!

 



you can see how the black backer board compliments a frame! It's acid free and as lightfast as black can be!! PS...the background color looks a bit blue in this pic...it is actually more on the purple side...Remember the colors on everyone's monitor is always a little different!!

I woke up this morning with a strong feeling I wanted to paint something with a sense of humor, and I think this guy is it! Gotta love that face! I enjoyed painting him so much I just may do more...FUN DOINS!

 



You can see that I've painted the sides black as I do for my small ones for ETSY...and the suggestion for framing is as below...The frame is not included, but I get these at Michaels...

 

 

It is almost MARCH folks! I can't believe how fast time is rolling along!  It was time to do a calendar page...this one has a few activities and holidays...as promised..I'm reminding you and showing you...

 

This was more painting and stamping...a few easter eggs and bunnies thrown in the mix...Gotta love doin my own!!

 

It is ANOTHER snow day here in the mountains...I'm telling you....I'm ready for SUMMER!!  But, I spent a few minutes with my little squirrel buddy and taking a few photos...
