detail

I have been working hard to simplify my information and my website so it is much easier to navigate and see what you want to see!  This is kind of a kick off.  I want to thank all my loyal subscribers and my new subscribers by offering a give away once a month "ish".  Being an artist I may miss the once a month by a few days now and then! lol

I am excited to be giving more helpful and fun information in my website newsletters...tips, art give aways, contests, projects that involve YOU...just whatever I can to make life a little more interesting to whom ever may want it!  SO, I encourage you to sign up...I'll be nice I promise!

IF you want to participate in my next on-line project the details are below.
The next on-line interactive project is an opportunity for you to have your OWN SLICE OF LIFE PAINTING with your own individual subject matter! How this works is you e-mail me the subject matter you would like to see on your own slice of life painting. I do these 12"x12" unless otherwise requested. The price of the 12"x12" is $125. I have built in shipping and taxes, so all you have to send is $125.
You can send me your subject matter in a couple of ways.

#1: a photo of what you would like to see in your slice of life painting. Keep in mind that it will most surely need to be cropped so be prepared for a completely unique view of what you want painted.

#2: you can send me the IDEA of a subject...ie. "Saundra I would like to see aspen trees with blues and yellows as the main color..." I will then paint you some aspen with blues and yellows. It will be more of a surprise the end result, but that can be quite exciting!

  • When you e-mail me I will most likely send you questions, or crop your image if you choose #1 and send you what you may see...I am very good at communication with my collectors!
I will then paint your slice of life; add something fun underneath and send you the photo for your approval, if you LOVE IT, I will send you a link with a buy now button; pay pal is what I go through as it is safe, and you can purchase and I will send your painting as soon as it is dry. I work in oils for most things...save the aspens, which are largely acrylic.

PHOTO REQUIREMENTS: IF you choose #1, please make sure your photo is very clear so I can do my best job of getting the likeness of whatever it is! It can be an animal, still life, landscape...just about anything that can crop in a fun way to have this little slice of YOUR life!

PRIVACY: I will NEVER SHARE YOUR PRIVATE E-MAIL INFORMATION WITH ANYONE! You do NOT have to worry about ever getting spam because of me!
CLICK HERE to e-mail me your photos and/or subject matter ideas and we will get started! I work first come first serve and usually allow 1 week to paint and dry. I will let you know when you can expect your painting to be ready!

These two paintings were created for decor for my bathroom from the rug that is below.  You can send me a photo of a rug or curtains or, or, or...and I can create a slice for you that goes in that room! FUN!

Click on the paintings below to see them in my website...

FINAL NOTE: If you have a preference on what goes below your slice of life painting subject let me know. Let me know, otherwise I will add what seems to go with the painting from my own artistic view. HAPPY CREATING!

Let's get started!

"ORCHID TRIO" © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY; OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW!

These flowers were actually part of a larger painting I did a couple of months ago.  It just seemed there was too much negative space for my taste, SO, as artists will do if something is before them too long...I made it BETTER!  This fun little triptych can be hung in a variety of ways...makes for more versatility for your wall space.  Here is the original painting...don't you just LOVE the change? HA...well, I'm sorry if you don't, cuz I do, and well, that one is now THIS one!  FUN DOINS!
 ORIGINAL VERSION
just too boring for me!

This one is 10"x8" canvas attached to bass wood cradled panel and painted off white around sides.
I call this section the "Orchid Face"
8"x8" canvas attached to cradled panel and painted in the off white around
This section I call "Half and Half"
8"x8" canvas attached to cradled panel and painted like the other two
side view.  The cradle is just under 1" deep.  Wire is attached to each painting for easy hanging.

Somehow I don't think this will last long...or, it could just be I love this one so!!

"SUNNY D" A SUNFLOWER 4X4" OIL ON TEXTURED PANEL © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Sunny D" a sunflower
4x4" oil on textured panel
$30 unframed; $40 framed

What a cheery flower; the sunflower! It is TRULY a Sunny Delight...thus the name given! "Sunny D" is painted in oil on a 4x4" slightly textured panel. Alone it can sit on an easel, or can be framed in your favorite 4x4" frame. (remember 1/2" is taken on all sides), OR for .50 more I can mount it on a 5x5" off white matt so you can frame it in your own 5x5" frame, OR I can send it matted in the off white backer board and in the gold leaf wood 5x5" frame as shown. Any way you choose it, that special spot will be sunnier just to have it there! "Sunny D" will be ready to ship on July 21, 2014 when it is dry! Shipping is set for the framed version, but if you purchase just the painting and or the matt backer I will adjust the shipping accordingly!
Yesterday was a wildlife party around here.  I've got baby birds, so mom and dad have posed LOTS for me...here is one...I think this is a wren...any thoughts?
We've also had a big young buck hanging around the property of late.  He doesn't much care for my hubby...snorts and paws at the ground, but for me, he just seems curious...
I highly suspect both these will end up in paintings at one time or another...! FUN DOINS!

"SIX RED POPPIES" ORIGINAL MIXED MEDIA ON CRADLED PANEL © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

24"x24" mixed media on cradled panel
$700
Red poppies will brighten any room! Summer is always in our hearts and a happy thing to grace your walls!  Painted in acrylic, acid free paper, and oil this cradled piece is ready to hang!  Stained on the sides to compliment.

This is a bright and happy painting that I hated at first because there was a bigger poppy among the others...Take a look at a poppy field...they are the same size...remember never to be afraid of wiping out...and re-working something that isn't working.  The best tip I have for someone who is not too happy with a painting...walk away and come back later...often you will see the offending section right away!

"MOUNTAIN MEADOW" ORIGINAL MIXED MEDIA ON CRADLED PANEL © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Mountain Meadow"
24"x24"
Mixed Media on Cradled Panel

A friend of mine allowed me to use her mountain photo of this beautiful mountain meadow. The original photo had a pathway and a big rock in the foreground, but I decided to add the deer visitor I had recently on my back deck...Most of it is painted in acrylic, with my papers added in...but the deer is painted in oil.  This one is off to my gallery in Louisville next week...I haven't stained the sides yet, so it isn't even in my website yet.

I've been really busy working on several paintings at once for several galleries...poppies are on my easel now.  Stay tuned!!

I had the owners who commissioned me to paint their Cairn puppies in my studio recently.  I asked them to give me a few pointers as they know their babies well...they were reluctant at first, but when I explained it would be of benefit the husband suggested that the front pup; Forrest was "beefier"...so, while they were here I painted him beefier...and they were thrilled.  It is a GOOD THING to interact with your collectors when you can...it makes the whole experience a little more personal...here is the final version of "Darby and Forrest"

I'm always, ALWAYS on the lookout for photo moments...This time it was a little visitor to my yard and my geraniums and zinnias...ENJOY!

"POPPY CONVERSATIONS" ORIGINAL MIXED MEDIA POPPY PAINTING © SAUNDRA LANE GALLOWAY

"Poppy Conversations"
18" x 48" mixed media on cradled panel
Available, for now, only on my WEBSITE

I had a ball painting this piece! It is one of those rare pieces where it came out mostly like I had in my head when I did my first sketch after the dream that LED to the sketch! YAY! I will be changing out the photo the first chance I get with a sunny day...but unfortunately we are in for cloudy weather for the next three days and I didn't want to wait that long!  HOWEVER, the color representation is fairly accurate on MY monitor anyway! YAY again!

On this painting I focused on the abstract qualities of the background a good little bit...I had in mind composition and balance before I even put the flowers in.  I spent a little time even on their stems...they are little works of art all on their own...I wish I could show it as it looks here in my studio!

There is acrylic, paper, modeling paste for texture (well, custom patch acting as modeling paste), and the poppies are oil in this painting.  YES, you can paint oil over acrylic...:)  I got to use some of my favorite new "brushes" in this painting. They are made of a pliable rubber that is impervious to heat and solvents, and the paint just wipes right off or peels off if it dries on...I've used them in my oils and acrylics, and they would also work great to create pattern with your watercolors! They are Catalyst by Princeton. I found mine at Meiningers here in Denver. They have a long handle...just perfect for any type of artwork!

Soon I will be taking Poppy Conversations to my gallery in Louisville; Creations Art and Gifts Fine Art , but for now it lives in my studio. Later this summer it will travel with me to the SUMMER ART MARKET, where I will be in BOOTH #38...I hope to see you there!! June 8 and 9 at the Art Students League in Denver...Stay tuned for more information!

until then...HAPPY CREATING!!
