"Pine Tree Upcycled Chair"

This wicker seat bar height chair is painted a spicy paprika color with two tall stylized pine trees tracing each side with boughs and pinecones in the center slats. If you look closely you will notice the distressed look along with the squares breaking up the solid color.  A GREAT conversation piece for sure!   

 

 

OK...furniture is coming along...NOW, where to put these pieces!!  Well, I am happy to report that beginning December 2, 2013 I will be renting a small space within a great community of artists in a wonderful place up here on the 285 strip just above Morrison called "a Borgata" .  Owned and operated by Penny Gaudi, a Borgata  is doing SO WELL in fact that she will be moving to a larger space; 4,000 square feet up here in Conifer beginning in March! I didn't want to wait for that, so I will be signing a lease and moving my upcycled furniture and paintings and such the beginning of December!  SO, a place for these pieces to roost and I am a happy artist! I drive by a house near our C-470 quite often.  A house has sat near the highway for years.  One day the owner built a berm and put pine trees on top.  It looked so nice I had to stop and take a few photos; well, I didn't actually stop...I drove by with my camera facing the berm and snapped without looking! HA.  I was lucky I got a good enough shot to create "Five Pines"...I enjoy the buttery"ness" of the sky and the color in the foreground that implies movement.  A fun take on the pine!

 

It started out with sky in oil and paper in, well, paper...lol

 

I stained the sides a nice green that compliments the painting perfectly!

"Five Pines" is ready to hang, or, because of it's unique depth it can actually sit on a shelf or mantle!

Just hanging out waiting for the holidays, this black bear is patient and happy to wish you the very merriest of seasons! Painted on lightly textured panel in oil with black sides. "Merry Bear" can sit quite nicely on a small easel, or for $18 more you can have him mounted and framed in this pine black with red molding trim frame. The frame finished size is 9"x11" with Merry Bear being 5"x7". Framed he is ready to sit on a slightly larger easel, or to hang! NOTE: IF you choose framing, he is glued in, so he's in there for the LONG HAUL! :) Merry Bear is ALMOST dry...just waiting until November 29"ish", 2013 for shipping when he is dry! "Bird Roost Shelves"

This rustic piece of furniture has become a bird roost!  Painted Aqua with a mustard"ish" color accent drawer this rustic gem has been distressed to compliment it's rustic nature.  The birds painted have also been distressed to add to the charm of the over-all piece.  As shown you can see it is a perfect accent for a counter top, or can sit as a plant shelf; you name it...whatever you come up with this will be a conversation piece for sure!  The shelves are apx 6" tall and 8" wide.  The drawer has 2" of storage space and is 6" wide and 7" deep.  The little bird ornament is included!  I can deliver in my area for $10, ( I have built that into the shipping charges) but if you live outside the area and need this shipped please contact me first, as I have to check that out.  I will most likely ship this little gem UPS, so the shipping should be minimized.  Soon I will be taking this sweet little Bird Roost to the AAR River Gallery in Westminster to sit for awhile!  IF INTERESTED, please contact me at art4life44@hotmail.com.

"Aspen Upcycled Piano Bench"

I used to upcycle furniture even before the term was created.  I love taking something and adding to it to change it in some way.  This started out as a piano bench...and can STILL be a piano bench, or sit at the foot of the bed, or be a coffee table (it's a little tall for feet on it, but who would want to put your feet on this!!)...or, or, or...  The inside is 2 1/2" high, the dimensions are:  21" tall; 24 1/2" wide; 13 1/2" deep.  I've put my signature aspen all around the sides and on the top.  I enjoy the tapered legs for that vintage feel, but the black accents give it a contemporary look.  The neutral color is "oregano"; which fits into just about any color scheme!

Yes, the trees go all the way around!  The oregano color is inside as well!

AND, what will she do next you ask...well, I've got a cute little thing goin on with blue and yellow...This one is distressed and rugged...and now the fun part...how I embellish!!  This little guy is heavy and solid...I'm initially thinking something bird"ish"...but who knows til I get my hands and creative eye on it!!  FUN DOINS!

Yes, another ostrich!  I just can't seem to get bored with them...So, "Lips" is the newest addition.  When you click to my ETSY shop you will notice that I have added a couple new things.  FIRST a second matt color choice.  It's been over a year since I re-opened my ETSY shop, I'm selling them about as fast as I can paint them...so, I've added two options...for .50 each you can choose either a black backer board or an off white...and I'm showing two options for framing so you can really see the potential! Yes, the sides are still black...

 

as written in my ETSY shop:  Thinking she will be much prettier Lips as added a bit of color to those lips of hers...just hoping you will want to take her home! The Frames are just a suggestion. The black you can find at Michaels, and the off white; they call white can be found here on ETSY at Rustic and Refined Design. The backer boards are 5"x5" allowing all the sides of Lips to show. Lips has black painted sides so you can set her on an easel, frame her in a 4x4" (remember 1/4" is taken up on all sides), or order the backer and put her in a 5x5" frame as suggested! "Lips" will be dry and ready to ship on or about November 23, 2013!

Just boring into your heart, this pair of eyes is soften by her fur. A close up view of a precious pet. Just right for the soft heart in you! The frames shown are merely a suggestion. The black frame can be found at Michaels; and the White frame can be found here on ETSY from a company called Rustic and Refined Design. Both frames are 5"x5". I can mount "Cat Eyes" on a 5" x 5" backer board in either off white or black for just .50 more. This will enable all the sides to show! If you prefer, just order the painting which will sit on a small easel! Just order the one you prefer. "Cat Eyes" will be available for shipping on November 23, 2013 when she dries!

NOTE: a 4x4 frame will take up apx 1/8" on each side for the lip, so I suggest a 5"x5" frame with a black backer board so you can see all sides as shown. (Frame not included, but is available at any Michael's store) IF you want the black backer board mounting just request it when you order; this is free for a bit longer! I'm adding a larger painting to my ETSY shop...Sometimes we just need a larger support, as in the case of MOOSE above!

 

"Moose" is just as his name implies...a big ole moose just hanging out with you where ever you may want to hang him!  He is painted on a 7x5" canvas board with black sides.  Ready to frame (I might suggest a floater frame so you can see all his rack in all it's rack"y" glory) or sit on an easel.  Remember: a regular frame will take out approximately 1/8 - 1/4" in the lip that will cover your image. WHICH is fine...nothing wrong with a little cropping!  Moose will be ready to ship on November 6"ish", 2013 when he is dry!

AND...not as exciting, but still important in my art world...I attended the grand opening of the new gallery space that CREATIONS moved to.  Their building was sold right out from under them, so they have partnered with a new gallery just two doors down; a slimmed down space, but I am lucky enough to be included...The new space is now called

LOCAL ART CREATIONS at BY CHANCE.

 

As you can see Tom and Vickey have generously given me a very prominent spot in their new space, and Nancy Welch and Cathy Briggs; owners of BY CHANCE were kind enough to want me to be a part of this gallery within a shop!  I'm excited!

So, folks, there it is...a very happy, productive and busy time!!
