Cupcakes

Today was my second and final day for subbing in a local middle school. As I was finishing the day I was glad I was just subbing...middle school is quite a challenge if you get those (and you WILL) kids that want to try your patience and sanity! :) That is another reason for this year anyway I'm LOVING subbing!!

So, my breaks today led me to work on little w/c sketches of the cupcakes from the "Different Strokes" blog. I miss doing "full blown" paintings, but am glad I can do at least SOME type of painting!

Again, I am frustrated at the low quality of these paints. I'm about to the bottom of the little pans of color, so can fill them with higher quality soon!

Well you sure do a great job with those little pans of color. I also love your watercolor work. Some people are just gifted all the way around!

Thank you Autumn Leaves for always having something nice to say!

They don't look poor quality, Saundra. They look fresh and very fun. I like your cropping and single subjects.

Thank you L. Holm! I always enjoyed watercolor, and it IS a good medium to travel with.

Wonderful watercolors of the cupcake challenge - I especially like the effect you got with the vanilla cake...yum!

Lovely job on the challenge Saundra! I'm still struggling with mine. I know what you mean about Middle School. My youngest is in 7th grade. Did they give you a Medal of Valor for subbing?

Claire...thank you! I know...painting this made me hungry!!

Sheila, I think I might have had a bit of trouble if it was acrylic...the w/c seemed to make it easier...? Medals?? Hmmm...I think my medal is a nap I take when I get home! HA

I love the way you handled the cupcakes, your crops make it more interesting. I think watercolor is the right media for this subject.
Good luck on subbing, I was really wrung out in 6 months of subbing, and especially middle school...phew!!! They can really try your patience. :-)

FUN! That's the best way to describe Saundra's art. That joyful spirit of a creative soul who sees God's world as it is so often forgot - euphoric!

Of course, someone may say I'm biased 'cause Saundra's my sister. But biased or not - I stand by my word. Saundra reminds me often to hold onto the simple pleasures around us.

I'm proud of her.

Saundra, how neat that your brother commented in your blog! Does he perhaps have a moustache? LOL And the gift of leading others to see and enjoy the simple pleasures is a true gift indeed!

Thank you Deborah. Watercolor is fun for me because it sort of does it's own thing! Vignettes seems to be the way I go with w/c. And...a secret...subbing is Middle School is the hardest...to keep from going insane I sprinkle it sparingly between High School and Elementary!

Jane, Coming from you I take this GREAT compliment!

DAVE!! You could have knocked me over with a feather!! I feel so tickled that you found a way to comment!! Your sis is blushing at your kind words!!

Autumn Leaves...You are so good for my old artist ego!! And, I am laughing right now cuz it's been SO long since I've seen my wonderful brother I don't know if he has a stash or not! Dave...do you??

Hello Sis - I would've commented earlier on but for some reason I couldn't get the comment posting box to come up (I'm on dial up and everything is PAINFULLY sloooow...even for my Mac).

And you aren't "old" - sheesh.

I love you sis.

...and no...I mowed the moostachay off when I was in Florida melting in the heat...but my email sig always had it in there so I'll keep it...and grow back the real lip hair again someday! :{)

Great job on both of these! They are both so different but equally as good. Love the close off center crop of the chocolate and the golden glow of the vanilla.
